Diplomatic Depression

The 2020 China-India skirmishes are a part of an ongoing military standoff between Indian and Chinese troops on LAC engaging in aggressive actions leading to casualties and a rising conflict in their diplomatic relations.

Powerful Handshake

Border conflicts and occupied territorial action in Jammu & Kashmir is nothing new. Provocation by rumors or engaging in meaningless conflict happens a lot of times. There can be a handful number of causes China engaged in combat. Some believe it was because of the road infrastructure in Ladakh. Some say that this was a post-COVID strategic message from China to its neighbors which would make India prioritize the Himalayan sector over the maritime Indian Ocean region, a more vulnerable area for the Chinese.

The deeper question, however, is, how long this will last? and what the outcome will be. Ranging from Trade relations to both being nuclear powers. The tension amongst the two most populated countries in the world is disturbing. India is dependent upon China in no way imaginable. Banning Tik Tok or canceling Chinese brands like Xiaomi or OPPO isn’t going to affect it a bit.

The bottles you drink water from, the toys you play with, literally, everything in our daily life is directly or indirectly manufactured in China. They are a global superpower in consumer products and our life is completely dependent on them, whether you accept it or not, it’s the truth of China’s capitalistic communism.

These reasons contribute to India’s self-sufficiency and Modi’s ‘Atmanirbhar’ plan. Encouraging domestic corporations in over-coming COVID-19 together, and government providing loans to such companies so they don’t get consumed by even bigger corporations that aren’t Indian. This standoff may be temporary but China’s thirst for dominion is permanent.
